When Hugh Bradford arrives at the hydro electric construction project as the new site geologist he is met with tragedy. Expecting to reunite with an old engineering mate, he instead finds him dead from a rock fall. As he becomes familiar with his surroundings he discovers the truth, the rock fall was no accident. As he resolves to find out who killed his friend, he becomes mixed up in a series of murders involving a group of immigrants working on the project. On closer inspection it appears that despite escaping the ruins of their homeland after World War II, they remain haunted by something from their violent past.
