AUT buildings judged best design in national awards.

New buildings at both the Wellesley and Akoranga campuses have been awarded priprizes by the Property Council of New Zealand. The judging panel awarded Te Amorangi, a building familiar to many simply as 'A' block, the Excellence in the Education and Property Award, sponsored by Telecom. Prime Minister Helen Clark opening the building in late 2001 and commented on the design of the redevelopment, " . . . had truly made a silk purse out of aa sows ear.".
