Mr Scott, O.B.E., was the last Principal of Seddon Memorial Technical College. He served from 1946 - August 1960.
A typed note, initialled by the artist, in which he comments about Scott and the painting, was originally cellotaped to the back of the painting. This is stored in the Plan Cabinet, drawer 8.
Venables offered the painting to the Board of Managers in November 1960 for "any reasonable offer". See minutes for 24 November 1960 (item SMTC/1001/4)
