Planning for this building commenced in late 1964 and the contract was let in June, 1967. Designed by the Board's architects, Mrs Crookes, Galway and Bolt, it was built by the Fletcher Construction Co.It is a three story structure which is specially designed and equipped for training apprentices in Plumbing and Steel metal-working techniques. In addition, Boiler making, Panel beating, Coach building and Motor Mechanics apprentices will be given instruction in a wide range of techniques in welding shops. The total floor is 18,717 square feet.
The Hon A. E. Kinsella, Minister of Education, officially opened K Block on Saturday 29 March 1969.
