LIANZ (Library & Information Association of New Zealand) was the name chosen for a proposed new organisation to represent the library community in 1989 when it appeared that the NZLA (New Zealand Library Association) may have had to be wound up due to financial difficulties. A number of meetings were held and a steering committee formed.
