Ko Tenga o Waikuta is a Māori translation of the original 1992 publication Tenga of Waikuta by late leading educationalist, Kelvin Smythe, featuring photos by the late Dutch photographer Ans Westra. Ko Tenga o Waikuta presents a visual diary of a day in the life of Tenga Rangitauira, a 7 year old Māori boy from Rotorua. Tenga describes his family, kura, and friends as well as social and cultural activities including tangihanga (funeral ceremony), the star Venus (Tāwera/Kōpū) and the famous love story of Hinemoa and Tutanekai.
