She was an early childhood educator for 25 years before moving into academic life. Having completed her Ph.D. in 2011, Wendy has collaborated to research and publish in the areas of pre-service teachers' attitudes to child care, early childhood education for sustainability, pre-service teachers' attitudes to mathematics, and teaching in higher education. Her approach to teaching pre-service early childhood teachers has been recognised through the 2011 SCU's Vice Chancellor's Citation Award for Excellence in Teaching. Wendy is an editor for the New Zealand Research in Early Childhood Education Journal.)
