The origins of the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, 1970: t.p. (Royal Australian Army Medical Corps) History: In 1888, the Medical Staff Corps was organized on a voluntary basis; in 1891, it became the Permanent Medical Staff Corps. By 1899, it had evolved into the Royal Army Medical Corps. On July 30, 1902, it became the Australian Army Medical Corps. Since 1946, it has been called the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps.
