University of Liverpool web site, March 7, 2017: (Prof Sara Cohen, BA, DPhil ; Sara@liverpool.ac.uk ; I am a Professor of Music with a background in the anthropology of music and a DPhil in Social Anthropology from Oxford University. My work has focused on Britain, Europe and the US, with a particular emphasis on Liverpool and other cities, and has explored questions concerning heritage, memory and place. While covering a wide range of social groups and music genres, it has generally been concerned with popular music, defined in its broadest sense, and throughout my career I have sought to promote popular music as worthy of serious academic study. At the University of Liverpool I am Director of Research in Music and of the Institute of Popular Music, and teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules on policy, politics, place and ethnography. ) https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/music/staff/sara-cohen/
