Whakamārama: He manu roroa ngā ngutu, he pūhihi ngā kakī. He ika te kai. Ko ngā huruhuru he kārikipango, he mā rānei. He mumura te mata.

Scope Note: A general term for shags and cormorants, a family of fish eating birds with long hooked bills and slender necks. They have greenish-black and white plumage but the face is often brightly coloured.
