Bookman's glossary, 1983: stereotype, stereo (letterpress duplicate plates made by molding type pages in a suitable material using a matrix. Molding the matrix from the original type form is followed by casting of duplicate relief plates in lead. Some rubber and plastic plates are made using similar principles; others are made using photographic processes.)
